India harbored a hope of winning their first ever test series in Australia but at present they are in a process of avoiding another white wash. Australia would be disappointed if they can't clinch a win here in 4th test to register a white wash against India.
Overall there are numerous reasons because of which India failed miserably in this test series. Batting was completely out of form whereas bowling department showed a glimpse of good form. MS Dhoni won't play the 4th test as he is banned for slow over rate in 3rd test. Sehwag will take over the captaincy with a record of 2 out of 3 wins as a captain.
Kohli showcased some good batting talent in the 3rd test whereas VVS Laxman, Gambhir, Sehwag and Dravid were always found struggling with the bat. Sachin Tendulkar, who probably would be playing his last test match down under will again be looking for his 100th International century. Rohit Sharma may still have to sit out and just watch the game from the pavilion.
W Saha will replace Dhoni as the wicketkeeper. The pitch at Adelaide Oval may support the spinners after 2 days hence an enticement for India to play two spinners. Australia will rest Starc and give Lyon another opportunity on this spinner friendly track.
VVS Laxman and Dravid are under a scanner due to the bad form. Hopefully they both click form and prove that they are still worth a place in the Indian team. Ricky Ponting is just a few runs away from 13,000 runs. With Michael Hussey signalling a further stay in test cricket, will Ricky Ponting retire after a probable white wash success over India? Looks unlikely but anything is possible in cricket.
With Peter Siddle, Hilfenhaus, Harris and Lyon to dismantle the Indian batting line up; will India gather the winning will and turn tables on Australia at Adelaide Oval? All questions answered in the India vs Australia 4th Test.
