India takes on England in 1st test match at Ahmedabad. This could be christened as a vengeance tour for Indian team. India's test supremacy was shaken and pride was eroded when they visited England in 2011. England registered a 4-0 win over India in the test series. India would be looking forward to a big win here.
Indian team has a brilliant home record and they would love to continue winning at home, that too against the team that white washed India in 2011. England won their last test series in India in 1985. Since then they have been thirsty to clinch a test series win here. Will this be their best opportunity with almost all the batsmen in form and quality spinners in the squad?
India for the first time will play with the fact that their legends Dravid and Laxman have retired. The young guns like Kohli or Pujara will have to produce similar performances in their absence. A lot is expected from Sachin Tendulkar who hasn't clicked well in last one year. India's opening woes continue with out of form Gambhir and Sehwag. Hopefully they return to form in the favourable home conditions.
Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav will lead from the front with regards to the pace battery. Ashwin, Ojha and Harbhajan will take good care of the spin department which would naturally have an upper hand in this series. India would certainly pitch spin friendly tracks.
Players to watch in the England side would be Cook, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Patel, Anderson and Swann. The list doesn't end here as the others might come up with good performance.
Ahmedabad track is believed to be relaid to support the Indian spinners thus providing India an upper hand since the start. Keep yourself updated with India vs England 2012 live streaming on ESPN STAR Cricket.
