India vs Srilanka - Virtual Semi Final for India

India vs Srilanka

Nothing gets better than this! The tri series is taken such an interesting turn around! Srilanka defeated West Indies yesterday to give a further small dip in net run rate to West Indies. Now the only option for India to reach the final is to beat Srilanka either with a bonus point or with a margin good enough to topple West Indies in terms of net run rate. If that happens, India will meet Srilanka in the final. If India losses today they are eliminated. The slimmest other possibility is that India beats Srilanka with such a huge margin that Srilanka drops in net run rate below West Indies and get eliminated. But this is the most improbable possibility. With so many interesting possibilities Indian cricket fans can enjoy this match live on TV on Ten Cricket and Ten Sports.

Srilanka have retained their lost form. They thumped India by more than 160 runs to earn a bonus point and a huge boost in the net run rate. Yesterday they defeated West Indies and almost sealed a place in the finals. West Indies would hope for India's defeat today so that they can make it to the finals. On the other hand India will strive hard for a big win today and face Srilanka again in the final.

India started off with the tri series campaign with two losses and almost looked like being thrown out of the competition. But they seem to have rediscovered their spark when they defeated West Indies comfortable to earn a win with a bonus point. Indian fielding which was highly appreciated during the Champions Trophy triumph saw a downfall in this tournament. Sluggish fielding leaked a lot of runs and dropped catches. Bowling and batting hasn't been consistent.

Virat Kohli may again have to come up with a sparkling innings. A good start is expected from Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Karthik, Murali, Raina and tail enders can also contribute to the score. Bowling wise India has to pull up their socks. The pace trio of Kumar, Ishant and Yadav has to make the biggest breakthroughs earlier while they bowl. Jadeja and Ashwin can contain the batsmen with the spins.

Jayawardene, Tharanga and Sangakkara hold the key for Srilankan batting line up. Their bowling attack looks in better form than India. Mathews who was completely out of form during IPL and Champions Trophy has clinched good number of wickets and scored good runs. Malinga will be their pick of the bowlers.

Ideally India should bat first and post a big total to bowl out Srilanka with a margin that can better India's net run rate above West Indies. If India bats second, they will have to chase down the target with less overs that the full quota to better the net run rate. Everything seems to be interesting. Just pray that rain God stays away and we see a full match.
